Greyhounds Take On Moscow Bears
The Pullman Greyhounds hosted the 3rd Annual McCluskey Twilight, a Pullman-Moscow dual meet in honor of Lauren McCluskey.
The Pullman boys won the meet 95 to Moscow’s 50. The Pullman girls took second to Moscow.
Sam Sears had an outstanding day, sweeping all three throwing events and hitting personal records in the shot put (45 ‘1.5) and javelin (126’ 7), and throwing (126 ‘3) for the win in the discus. Judah Fitzgerald and Peter Jobson covered the track well in the distance events, with Fitzgerald winning the 1600m and Jobson winning the 800m with a PR of 2:05, followed by his teammate Evan Anderson at 2:06 in his debut in the event. Other individual winners include: Anthony Wright in the 400 with a PR of 53.22; Alexander Wheatley in both the 100H and 300H; Ryan Ha in the high jump (5’6); Trenton Dubs in the pole vault with a PR of 11ft; Evan Anderson in the long jump; and Bodi Abdelrazek in the triple jump. Jobson, Wright, and Anderson teamed up with Paul Genz for the win in the 4x400m relay in 3:39.
Ada Harris had another impressive day, winning the 800m and taking 2nd in her first ever 1600m. She finished the day by anchoring the winning 4x400m relay, along with teammates Jennabee Harris, Cici Maile, and Ali Hathaway. The girls 4x100m relay also took gold in a time of 53.65 (Olivia Whitworth, Cici Maile, Sidney Johnson, Lydia Park). Individual winners include: Maile Sandberg in the pole vault with a PR of (9 ‘3); Anna Fitzgerald in her second ever javelin competition (77’ 8); and Cici Maile in the 200m with a PR of 28.55.
The hounds were down a number of impact members in the throws and distance events, in particular on the girl’s side, and in the sprints on the boys. Moscow has a strong program, which made for an exciting day of competition and heartfelt performances from both teams, which made it even more meaningful as we all came together in the memory of Lauren.
The Greyhounds compete next at the Quad Cities Meet hosted by Moscow High School on Friday, April 5.
