Greyhounds Defeat Deer Park 7-0
PULLMAN — The Pullman Greyhounds delivered a flawless performance Wednesday afternoon, sweeping Deer Park 7-0 in Greater Spokane League boys tennis action without dropping a single set.
Pullman showcased its depth and dominance across both singles and doubles, improving to 3-0 in league play (3-2 overall). The Greyhounds controlled every match from start to finish, conceding very few games along the way.
In singles play, Nathan Sutton set the tone with a solid 6-2, 6-3 victory over Issac Lee at No. 1. Behind him, Daniel Schertenleib and Matthew Yan were nearly untouchable, each allowing just one game in commanding 6-0, 6-1 wins over James Sonnikson-Trammel and Nicholas Flammini, respectively. Nathan Yan rounded out the singles sweep with a forfeit victory.
Doubles play was just as decisive. Pullman twins Daniel Lin and Issac Lin made a successful debut at No. 1 doubles, earning a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Josh Krantz and Levi Bouldin. The most dominant performance of the day came from Kevin Chi and Lucas Wang, who delivered a flawless 6-0, 6-0 shutout against Logan Law and Marley Aagard at No. 2 doubles. At No. 3, Aadi Raman and Ed Lee completed the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Daniel Calamia and Preston Lands.
Pullman head coach Cody Wendt praised his team’s focus and resilience.
“Neither charging Stags nor biting winds could keep them off the mark,” Wendt said. “May the Hounds rejoice at turning back the challenge of Deer Park.”
With the win, Pullman remains unbeaten in league competition and continues to build momentum early in the season.
