Greyhounds Roll Past Rogers 7–1, Move to 2–0 in League Play

The Pullman Greyhounds returned home Tuesday afternoon and delivered a complete performance in a 7–1 win over the Rogers Pirates at Valley Playfields, improving to 2–0 in league play.

From the opening whistle, Pullman set the tone.

The Greyhounds got on the board early in the 6th minute when Owen Shulenberger finished a quality buildup assisted by Adi Alshuwayhi. That goal opened things up, and Pullman never really let Rogers settle into the match.

Midway through the first half, Nick Neville converted a penalty to make it 2–0, and just minutes later, Shulenberger struck again—this time off an assist from Isaiah Bischoff. From there, the pressure continued to build.

Shulenberger completed his hat trick before the half and wasn’t done. He added a fourth just before the break, giving Pullman a 5–0 lead at halftime and effectively putting the match out of reach.

The second half was more about maintaining standards than chasing goals.

Pullman continued to control possession, finishing with 66% of the ball and 261 completed passes, while outshooting Rogers 21–5 and earning eight corners. The ability to sustain pressure and play in advanced areas allowed the Greyhounds to dictate tempo throughout.

Adi Alshuwayhi added a goal in the 60th minute—his second direct contribution of the day—again assisted by Bischoff, who was influential in the attacking third. Shulenberger capped off his performance with a fifth goal in the 66th minute, showing a consistent willingness to run in behind and finish chances.

Rogers found a late goal, but it did little to shift the overall control Pullman had established. The final goal of the match came from Josh Scherling, who finished a well-worked sequence assisted by Luis Carranza Bazan.

Defensively, Pullman remained organized, limiting Rogers to just five shots and one corner over the course of the match. While there were stretches that could be cleaner—particularly in transition—the overall structure and communication were solid.

Most importantly, Pullman continues to take care of business in league play.

The Greyhounds now sit at 2–0 and will turn their attention to Thursday’s matchup, when they host the East Valley Knights.
