Pullman 1, East Valley 1
Greyhounds Battle to 1–1 Draw with East Valley
The Pullman Greyhounds hosted the East Valley Knights on Thursday afternoon at Valley Playfields, playing to a 1–1 draw in a match that required patience, discipline, and resilience.
Coming off two strong league wins, Pullman entered the match looking to continue its momentum. What they found instead was a physical, organized East Valley side that made it difficult to find rhythm for long stretches.
The first half was tightly contested. Both teams generated chances, finishing level in shots by the end of the match at 9–9, but neither side was able to break through before halftime. East Valley showed a willingness to defend numbers behind the ball and challenge physically, while Pullman worked to move the game through midfield and find moments in the attacking third.
Pullman held a slight edge in possession, finishing at 54% with 189 completed passes, but it was a match where control didn’t always translate into clear chances.
The game opened up in the second half.
In the 68th minute, Nick Neville stepped to the spot and converted a penalty to give Pullman a 1–0 lead. It was a deserved moment after sustained pressure and gave the Greyhounds an opportunity to take control of the final stretch.
But the response came quickly.
Just three minutes later, East Valley equalized when Juan Sandoval followed up a saved effort and finished the rebound, leveling the match at 1–1 in the 71st minute.
From there, the game became about managing moments.
Both teams continued to push, but neither could find the final breakthrough. Pullman created opportunities through sustained possession and movement, while East Valley remained dangerous in transition and on second-chance opportunities.
Defensively, Pullman was tested throughout, with the Knights earning five corner kicks and forcing five saves. The Greyhounds matched that work rate on the other end, earning four corners of their own and keeping consistent pressure without quite finding the finishing touch.
The physical nature of the match showed in the second half, with multiple cautions issued as the intensity increased.
Matches like this are part of the process.
There were stretches of good possession, moments of quality in the attack, and lessons to take from how quickly momentum can shift. Managing those moments—especially after taking the lead—is an area that will continue to develop as the season moves forward.
Pullman remains unbeaten in league play at 2–0–1, and while this one doesn’t go down as three points, it’s another step in understanding how to navigate different types of games.
