Hounds Prevail Against Eagles

On Thursday, March 28th, the Greyhounds traveled to Smith Field to face off against the West Valley Eagles. Both teams entered the match as the only undefeated teams in the Greater Spokane League.

The Hounds started the game with a ferocious attack; in the 6th minute, junior Marcelo Romero scored a fantastic goal after receiving an assist from Captain Evan French, putting the Hounds up for a 1-0 lead. The game continued to go back and forth as the Hounds struggled to extend their advantage. However, despite their efforts, the Eagles’ number 2, Trenton Lobdell, found the back of the net in the 22nd minute, evening the score to 1-1. The Hounds quickly regained control when, just two minutes later, in the 24th minute, Evan French scored following an assist from Captain Leon Lange, propelling the Hounds back into a 2-1 lead. Both teams fought fiercely for possession, showcasing their determination to be victorious. In the 34th minute, Trenton Lobdell received a yellow card. Then, in the 46th minute, just before halftime, Leon Lange scored again, extending the Hounds’ lead to 3-1.

Entering the second half, the Eagles fought fiercely to turn the tide in their favor. Despite letting off three shots on goal, they failed to convert, because of the Hounds’ keeper Aaron Oatley and resilient defense. The Hounds also attempted two additional shots on goal, both of which were saved by the Eagle’s keeper. In the 72nd minute, Marcelo Romero was shown a yellow card. Shortly after, the game ended, sealing the victory for the Hounds with a final score of 3-1.
