Hounds Take Care of Business on the Road, 9-0 vs. Asotin

Hound Baseball was able to handily defeat the Asotin Panthers on Wednesday, recovering from a tough loss last Saturday against Deer Park. The game was the third of a 4-game road trip for the Hounds, which they will wrap up at Rogers on March 30th. Pullman’s pitching was exceptional throughout this game, with starter Calvin Heuser going for 4 innings while only giving up 1 hit. The Greyhounds performed just well enough to present a dominant performance, with 10 hits.

Kris Schroeder singled in the first to end a seven-pitch at-bat, bringing in the Hounds’ first run in the top of the 1st. They were able to add to that scoreline with a triple from Brady Coulter that scored two, putting Pullman up 3-0 early on.

The Hounds continued to extend their lead, with their biggest inning coming with a 4-run top of the 4th, enabled by a Joey Hecker double and Kris Schroeder single that put the Hounds up 7-0 with only one out recorded in the inning. Joey Hecker was able to keep up this performance, going 4-for-5 in at-bats against the Panthers.

Additionally, the Panthers’ pitching staff was inconsistent on the mound, allowing the Hounds to take advantage with 6 walks, 3 of which came in to score for the Greyhounds. The Hounds were also dominant on the base paths, able to steal 8 bases throughout the game.
