Hounds sweep Shadle on senior night to win league
Hounds display dominance over Shadle in their final GSL 2A League Game of their season finishing the game with a 3-0 win. Although the first half was scoreless, Greyhounds displayed a valiant effort having 3 shots deflect of the woodworks, as well as 2 miraculous saves from the Shadle Park’s keeper to keep them in the game, on top of that Leo Hoffman finds himself offsides in a disallowed goal late into the first half.
Emerging into the second half, Senior, Lukas Wexler scores volley 5 minutes into the second half to give the boys a 1-0 lead assisted by Evan French from a free kick, quickly followed again by Evan French with a goal from a penalty in the 53rd minute. Greyhounds continue their domination over Shadle Park with a rocket of a shot from Kai Hirose which blazed past the keeper into the goal in the 66th minute of the game assisted by Marcelo Romero to bring the score to 3-0.
As the clock ticked down the boys remained resilient, connecting and creating chances, but still could not find the back of the net. As the final whistle blew the boys celebrated and began to thank the seniors of the team, celebrating their last league game they will play with the team.
Despite seeing the seniors leave there was a bitter sweet mood as the boys received the GSL League Championship trophy. As the boys celebrate their seemingly small win they have bigger aspirations as they look to continue their undefeated streak with 13 straight victories as they face their first round of districts Monday, may 8th.
