Hounds Face East Valley Knights

The Pullman Greyhounds had their first dual meet of Greater Spokane League season vs. East Valley High School (Spokane) in Pullman on Wednesday April 12th. The boys won the matchup 94-31 while the girls lost a closer matchup missing a few key athletes 68-81.

The throwing trio of Cotton Sears, Emrik Gollnick, and Sam Sears swept the shot put and discus throw events. Sam Sears added a second place finish in the Javelin as well. Thats a huge point swing in these dual meets when we only score the top three finishes

Senior Tim Chapman had a pair of wins in the 100m (11.56) and 200m (23.83) while Junior Jason Li took 3rd in both events respectively.

Liam Fitzgerald added a pair of individuals wins in the 800m (2:09.3) and 1600m (4:39.92) races a leg of the winning 4x400m relay and a second place finish in the high jump.(5’4’’)

Senior hurdler Asa Fischer won both hurdles races and added a second place finish in the triple jump.

The greyhound boys won 11 of the 17 scored events.

The greyhound girls got individual wins on the track from Anna Fitzgerald (800m), Mika Toyoda (400m), and Olivia Whitworth (300m hurdles). The three with Oluwatomisin Oloniyo teamed up for the win in the 4x400m relay.

Ayana Kapofu won the triple jump (32’5.5’’) and finished  second in the long jump (13’11) to her teammate Lydia Park (14’11.5)

Freshman Maile Sandberg won the pole vault event with a personal best clearance 7’6’’.

The Greyhounds compete next at the Van Kuren Invitational hosted by Cheney High School on Saturday April 15th.
