Hounds Win! Beat West Valley in Penalty Shootout!
The Pullman Grey Hounds (8-2) took on the West Valley Eagles (7-2) in the Hounds fifth conference match of the season. This game for both teams held utmost importance, because the winner of this game would take control of the number 1 seed in the conference. West Valley started the game fast scoring a goal within the first 5 minutes. Lucas Peterson hit a perfectly weighted through ball over the Hounds back line right to the foot of West Valley forward Ty Milligan who managed to place the ball in the bottom corner past the Hounds goalkeeper. The next twenty so minutes went back and forth with neither team managing to breakthrough. This all changed in the 27′ when junior midfielder Phillip Kirchoff found fellow junior Carlens Dollin who managed to beat West Valley’s Goal keeper for his 11 goal of the season and tied the game up 1-1. The rest of the half went by with no more goals for either side. The second half started with the Hounds on the front foot and finding great looks, but none of which they managed to score. In the final 10 minutes West Valley picked it up and found look after look which the Hounds defense barely managed to defend, with the Hounds goal keeper Tom Cole registering 6 saves on the game. Regulation finally ended in a draw which meant two 5 minute sudden death Overtimes. West Valley looked better in the first while the Hounds looked better in the second but no goals were scored in either. Finally this meant Penalties, and the Hounds managed to come out on top 3-1 with Tom Cole saving two of them and Seniors Ian Oatley and Ben Goodell and as well as sophomore Kai Hirose making their shots.
